Welcome to the Tampa market for the international network of live and online photo classes, all under the banner of Digital Photography Classes.
This section is devoted to the Tampa community and the DPC Photography Instructors who lead these photo workshops are professional photographers who have lived in Tampa for at least 10 years, usually longer.
These pro photo shooters also have teaching experience and they love teaching. (Not all photographers do.) They know the local retailers where you can get the better deals on photo equipment and more importantly, they know where the best photo ops are which allows us to provide you with a rotation of interesting places to shoot, throughout the year, whether indoors or outdoors, winter, spring, summer of fall. Sometimes one time of day to shoot is better than another and our DPC instructors keep us informed.
Often, the DPC Instructors even have private access to various locales in the city where they live. Themes vary from street photography and dynamic architecture, to flowers and landscapes, as well as waterscapes, sunsets, lush scenery and everything in between.
During one month, you might be invited to rendezvous in the luxurious natural light streaming in to a religious venue via spectacular stained glass windows and the following month, it might be a small relatively unknown park with very special landscapes. This is why we offer a special ALUMNI Discount to people who attend more than one workshop.
Nationally, we organize these photography workshops to provide variety for the participants in each local market, but we could not do it without the expertise and connections provided by the DPC instructors in each of those markets.

A better way of calculating your camera exposures, as everything in photography utilizes math. For instance, take your light meeter. It's based off of foot candles. 1 candle = 1 second; 30 candles of light which is in open shade all over the world would = 1/30 of a second. Now lets jump to the brightest white, mid day cloud light by the sun has 500 candles of light on it, which = 1/500 of a second shutter speed. Now what ever you set your ISO to, for instance ISO 100 you take the square root of 100 = 10. To shoot the cloud at ISO 100 and utilize the 1/500 of a second shutterspeed, your f/stop would be f/10. Same ISO in open shade your exposure would be 1/30 f/10, or 1/60 f/5, 1/125 f/2.5

Photography is the art of recreating pictures of individuals, things or locations in their exact likeness. These images can be moved on any photosensitive material. Photography includes taking and printing images.
The backbone of photography is the cam, the instrument or gadget that deals with the principle of optics. The cam and photographic methods have undergone sensational modifications since the time the first video camera was made. The earlier design did not consist of the film; rather, it had a little light-shield box with lens and translucent screen on either side. The image that traveled through the lens was kept on the screen. Called 'electronic camera obscura,' it was no more than a sketching device for artists.
Then the researchers discovered the quality of silver nitrate that alters its color when exposed to light. This was the beginning of photogram, a technique of making irreversible images.
They would position items on the paper dipped in silver nitrate and expose it to the sunshine. After at some point the area covered under the object remained white while the rest of the space turned black. However, the image formed was temporary, so the technique did not last long.
Over the centuries, the principles, the material and the approach used in photography went through numerous changes. After try out numerous approaches like Daguerre and calotype procedure, lastly collodion, or the damp plate strategy was universally accepted.
Modern photography has actually offered a completely new meaning to the entire understanding of life and privacy. Photography has made it possible to catch and protect unique moments, in private and in public life. History ended up being more genuine with images, and pictures worked as proof in most cases. Individuals made their family tree in their albums. All of a sudden life was so much more fun and meaningful.
With the remarkable technological advances in the art of photography, it is no more just fun and frolic but has acquired the measurements of a full-fledged occupation. Photography has numerous branches and types, such as:
- Aerial photography is the art of taking photographs from the air.
- Art photography is dedicated to lovely images for the sake of beauty only.
- Studio or advertising photography is dedicated to promotion of products and institutions.
- Photojournalism takes pictures of occasions to support the newspaper article and to create awareness among individuals.
- Outdoor and travel photography is concentrated on taking images of landscapes and natural places.
- Sports photography records pictures of the sporting events and games that occur in the world.
- Some types of photography like the macro and scientific and macro or close up photography are limited to specific fields and are not widely understood.
The charm of photography lies as much in the end product as in the process of taking images. Taking a look at an album is like taking a trip down memory lane; it makes us feel psychological and highly nostalgic.
